Role Purpose:
The Logistics Coordinator follows up door to door on the confirmed shipments, materials and/or services in order to ensure the continuous availability of goods and services that meet the
operating schedules, availability and deadlines of the business.
Accountabilities
Receives, checks and processes on time all shipping and delivery documentation from
suppliers, forwarders, clearing agents, insurance and identifies, as well as follows up on any errors and/or discrepancies in order to ensure that correct and suitable documentation is received on time.
Follows up and receives goods, materials and/or service requests to ensure that business requirements are understood and processes requests in order to ensure items are shipped, cleared, insured and distributed efficiently and
effectively.
Effectively follows up on all shipments internally with various local logistics teams including the commercial department and externally with forwarders, clearing agents and insurance, as well as coordinates with insurance brokers to support smooth provision of services.
Establishes and maintains a database of local, national and international forwarders and suppliers in order to ensure that the supplier’s records are accurate and updated.
Prepares reports and other relevant tools as required in order to ensure that Managers
have the relevant information needed to support decision-making.
Reports major problems to management in order to ensure that a high level of service
provision is maintained and issues are resolved in a timely manner
Develops and maintains good working relationships with suppliers and other external and internal parties.
