Is re-projection needed from srid 4326 (WGS 84) to 4269 (NAD 83)?

I have the US census data of state boundaries, which is in the SRID 4269, in the MS SQL DB.

My input data for calculations against that state boundaries is in the SRID 4326.

As far as I can infer from the SpatialReference.org, the SRID 4269 is just a subset of the SRID 4326 and no coordinates re-projection seemes to be needed.

So, the question is do I actually need to re-project from the SRID 4326 to SRID 4269, provided that I know for sure that my input data is always within the bounds of the SRID 4269?
